The Lunarplane continues Mount Dimension’s exploration of the “plane.” This time, the perspective shifts from the ground to the night sky, bringing the moon, constellations and the distant silhouette of mountain onto the same surface. Elements that exist across different distances and scales — mountain, sea and sky — are layered together on a single Tyvek groundsheet.

The star map is more than a visual element. The constellations printed on the groundsheet can serve as a reference for observing the night sky. While camping, resting or watching the moon, you can begin with the map below, then look up to locate the actual stars above. The printed surface and the real sky form a direct relationship between ground and overhead.

The silhouette of mountain gives this sky a familiar geographical reference. For Mount Dimension, the mountain is not simply a background, but also a marker of direction and place. By bringing the moon, constellations and mountain range onto the same plane, The Lunar Plane captures a simple moment: stopping, looking up, and becoming aware of where you are.
